Finding the right connection in real life 3D can be complicated and requires compatibility in demographics marital status, age, mutual type of relationship wanted... and physical chemistry. Pics and phone calls 2D give mere shadows of a person. But the mental and emotional chemistry between a man and woman communicating online 1D, while it may be a prelude to a 3D connection, it can also be quite fulfilling in and of itself.
